January 2014 ScrapBoutique Challenge

Hi, It's my last day of vacation so I thought I would get a challenge done before I return to work. I loved this cool sketch challenge that Sharon posted at ScrapBoutique so thought I would give it a whirl...

I had a lot of fun with this... masking with Color Shine and then using a Gelato stick and paint brush to add the colour to the background. I love this gorgeous photo of my niece and nephew! The cute polka dot paper was perfect and I just added a few strips of washi tape and some paper scraps here and there before machine stitching in place.

A few stickers, chipboard stars, buttons, flair and enamel dots and I was done...quickest page I have completed in a while! And I love the bright, fun colours too :)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

The post with some just because layouts!

Hi there,

I'm back with a couple of just because pages...

The first one is using Kaisercraft Garage Days papers! Thought I would try an 8.5 x 11 page again as it has been a while since I worked with this size. I began with the lovely wood grain pattern papers and added some stamping to the background. Then I started hand cutting and sewing the papers onto the page...I love the uneven edges and dimension created by not having the papers fully adhered to the page.

I added a few other stamps, plasterers tape and these cute little Tim Holtz cogs.

And the journaling was created using my new Pebbles alpha stamp...which I received in a $5 Project Life kit from Studio Calico during the Black Friday sale! Love it!!

Next it was time to bring out the Gelato's! These are so versatile and are so much fun to use! I just scribbled the colour onto my craft mat, added a few sprays of water and mixed it around before placing the cardstock on top and swished it around! A really fun technique!! I have used papers from Amy Tangerine and Studio Calico Printshop.
My word for 2014 is LOVE!

The tag has a message for me:
"When you love what you have, you have everything you need"

And a couple of close-ups... of the layers

and stitching!

My wonderful friend Debi J messaged me yesterday to let me know that I had made the C.S.I. watch list and she made the Most Wanted...woohoo!

It was my first time playing along and it makes me so happy that others like my work :))
I will wear this badge with pride!

That's all for today. Thanks so much for stopping by!
