Merry Christmas All

Thought I would share my last three layouts for the Country Papercraft challenges. This one was a blind scrap using Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses papers. The photos are of my niece and her partner at her work Christmas party last year. They had a great time dressing up in these naughty outfits.

This challenge was to scrap a Christmas food tradition. I chose to do a layout on my MIL's Christmas cake which she has made every year since 1964. We had to include the recipe so I included a copy of the page she tore out of The Australian Women's Weekly dated 18 November 1964. I have used Kaisercraft Dear Santa papers. Yum!

The last challenge had a long list of criteria including using 12 bling, 11cm ribbon, 10 flowers, 9 stickers, 8 lines of journaling, 7 papers, 6 photos, 5 manufacturers, 4 torn edges, 3 coloured cardstock, 2 word title on a 1 page layout. Phew...it took some thinking but I am happy with the result.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas break. Enjoy!

A layout to share

I thought I would share my layout that I completed for the Country Papercrafts December mid monthly newsletter. The photos are of my Dad and some of his buddies in training back in 1953. The paper I have chosen is from the gorgeous Bella Sarah Jane range. I have used lots of ink and distressing to give the page an aged look...and used the mesh and some stitches to add some texture. I am intrigued with old photos atm and love doing layouts with them. I hope you like it...your comments are welcome.

A few more Christmas challenges

Good Morning

I thought I'd share a few more of my entries from the Country Papercraft Christmas challenge. I love how this one turned out. We had to complete a layout ready for a 2009 photo using the words of a Christmas carol on the page. I chose Merry Christmas because it's such a happy song and I hope to get a lovely photo of my children on Christmas day to add to the page.

Now this one was a real challenge for me as we had to recall a childhood Christmas memory. I did not have any photos of this event so decided to alter a Basic Grey Recess die cut bike that I found in my stash to represent my new red bike. Glossy accents on the red makes it all shiny like the real thing :)

Next up was to make a set of eight tags. I made these ones for my husbands family secret Santa draw. These were super easy and quick to make...Hope you like them.

We had a huge electrical storm last night and it looks like we are in for a rainy day here today. Makes for a nice change from the heat. Enjoy your day :)

Some more Christmas projects at Country Papercraft

For this challenge we were required to make a gift box from card stock. This was so easy and lots of fun to make. I have decorated using a stamp, scrap paper, ribbon, flowers, Christmas tree and string bow.

Next up was to complete a set of six Christmas cards with a tree on each one. I have used scraps of paper from my stash, stamps and a few embellishments.

This challenge was to complete a layout using pattern paper from three different manufacturers. I chose Daisy D's, Crate Paper and Adornit for this page of my nephew's Riley and Beau in the pool last Christmas. The design is a CPC sketch.

Enjoy your day!

Lime Tart Challenge

Hi

As I mentioned in a previous post Lime Tart have a challenge each Tuesday fortnight. The current challenge is to create a Christmas card using a non Christmas stamp. Last week Mikala was completing Chrissy cards for her friends at school and she told me that she had a friend who's family did not celebrate Christmas. I thought this challenge would be perfect to make a card that would be suitable for Mikala to give to her friend. I have used a Basic Grey bird stamp, some leftover Fancy Pants papers and ribbon from a past Lime Tart kit. I made some little flowers with string and buttons and have used lots of Kindyglitz on the bird and around the star to give the card some sparkle.

Hope you like it!

Getting in the Christmas Spirit

I have joined in the 12 days of Christmas Challenges at Country Papercraft. Every couple of days they post a challenge to complete. I have only done a few Christmas projects before so I am looking forward to all the challenges the design team come up with.

The first challenge was to complete a layout using the supplied sketch and bling. I completed this layout of my kids visiting Santa in 1999 which was Mikala's first Christmas. I love the colours of these Kaisercraft papers.

Next up was to make an item to give as a gift. I altered a gift box I was given for my birthday. I used some scraps of Making Memories Fa La La, along with some of their cute epoxy stickers, some flowers and kindyglitz.

This challenge was to use a non Christmas photo with Christmas papers. The photo was taken by my kids when they were mucking around for the camera. I chose to use some scraps of We R Memory Keepers paper as well as some of their lovely embellishments from the same range.

Enjoy your day...it's going to be a hot one here!

Guest design for Country Papercraft

Morning All,
When I completed design school at Country Papercraft I was given the opportunity to be a December guest designer for them. My first challenge was to create a layout using Christmas papers and a non Christmas photo. I have chosen Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses for this page of my beautiful girl Mikala.
This gorgeous photo was taken by Trish O'Brien at Jetty Images in Coffs Harbour. Mikala is friends with Trish's daughter Kate and the photo is being included in a 2010 calendar full of "princesses" that Trish has produced featuring Kate and her friends. If you would like to check out some of my other work at Country Papercraft you can do so here.
Enjoy your day.

Ooh la la

Hello again. I recently participated in the Zoe Pearn Ooh La La classes over at Scrap Boutique. Wow...these classes were a lot of fun! The My Minds Eye papers designed by Zoe are gorgeous. This was my first attempt at an online class and it was great trying techniques that I had not used before. We also made two mini albums (well they are not all that mini lol) which I have not had the time to finish as yet. Hopefully, when I finish TAFE I will get the time to add the photos and embellishments and share them with you :)

Another Stampavie card

I am so obsessed with these owls at the moment. I made this card for my wonderful TAFE teacher Kerry to thank her for all the help she has given our class this year. I have used Caroloee Creations paper, Collections branch, AC thickers and Shimmerz paints. Enjoy your day!

Stampavie Cards

Have you seen the gorgeous Stampavie stamps yet? I recently treated myself to Hoo Hoo There! The owls are so cute and they stamp beautifully. I will definitely be getting some more of these little beauties. These cards were lots of fun to make...I painted the stamped image with watercolours, used Spellbinder dies to cut the card stock and paper scraps for matting, then added some distress ink and alphabet stickers. So quick and easy and I think much nicer than most store bought cards. I hope you like them.

I hope to get the time to join in their challenges. Click on the blinkie on my sidebar to check out their blog...it's filled with lots of creative ideas.

Don't you love holidays

Our family has just returned from a holiday on the Sunshine Coast. While there, we visited the fantastic Australia Zoo. What a great setup they have...the animals all have lovely big enclosures. We all had the best day! It is so worth a visit if you are up that way.

Just before we left I completed this layout of my father and his brothers taken around 1952. I am loving old photos at the moment and used some Crate Paper Lemongrass I had in my stash.

Today I had a another electricity blackout...four hours this time. It seems we have a power outage every other week - so today I used the time to scrap. I completed this layout of Mikala using the Cosmo Cricket Earth Love range of papers and embellishments. I also had some fun with inks and glimmermist.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the school holidays.

Layouts to share

I am loving Cosmo Cricket papers at the moment...the colours are so vibrant.

I recently completed this layout...a photo of my boy Jake when he was little. The design is a sketch by Lynlee at Country Papercraft. I have used the gorgeous Snorkel range.

This layout using the Girl Friday range is of my niece Chloe and daughter Mikala. These papers are so pretty for little girls.

It is a beautiful spring day...Enjoy.

First time blogger

Hello and welcome to my blog.
I like visiting scrapbooking blogs and checking out all the wonderful creations out there and thought I would start sharing some of my own. As I am reasonably new to this craft I like to try different styles and techniques on my layouts. I also love making cards and off the page items.
I recently completed design school at Country Papercrafts. The classes were a lot of fun...trying new techniques and learning lots from the talented designers. Each week for 12 weeks we had an assignment with a set of criteria to complete. I thought I would share one of my favourites from the school...this one was from Biology class which required students to do an assignment style layout of a living thing where the photo had been dissected. The photo is of our Arabian stallion Ibn Sudani. Hope you like it!
